The 26-year-old man had arrived early to lend a hand with the move. His sister’s fiancé was at work, but he had agreed to help the socially anxious roommate pack up and move. The two had exchanged a few pleasantries during their previous meetings, but nothing beyond that. As the day unfolded, they moved the heavier items before taking a break to chat.

The roommate and cousin responded dismissively, telling him to calm down. Unfazed by his alarm, they handed the gun back to the cousin. The man, still shaken, decided to leave the apartment in frustration, unable to comprehend the nonchalance surrounding gun safety. For him, it wasn’t just about the gun being unloaded; it was about the potential danger in an apartment that housed animals and was adjacent to unknown neighbors.
