A woman in her late twenties says she cut ties with a long-time friend after he blocked her on several platforms, citing her “gross” picture of wet hair as the reason. The incident has drawn attention online as she shares her frustration over the friend’s behavior.

The woman, 26 and identified as Samantha, described her relationship with Mike, a 29-year-old friend, as fairly close. They had spent time together regularly, enjoying a friendship that seemed to be going well. However, things took a turn when Mike suddenly stopped communicating with her after dropping her off one night.

Samantha recounted that Mike had been involved in a fight that evening but did not reach out afterward, leaving her worried. After several days of silence, she reached out to his father on Facebook, only to learn that Mike had voluntarily admitted himself into a mental health facility. When he eventually got out, Samantha expressed her relief but also reminded him of her concern for his wellbeing. They agreed that he would keep her updated if he ever needed to go offline again.

<p“As time passed, things seemed to be back to normal until he ghosted me again,” Samantha said. “This time, I found out through one of his friends that his phone was broken, so I thought nothing of it.” However, days later, she made a shocking discovery: Mike had deleted her from Snapchat, Facebook, and Xbox, and he even blocked her phone number.

Feeling confused and hurt, Samantha noted the abruptness of Mike’s actions. “There was no argument or anything, so it felt out of the blue,” she explained. A few weeks later, Mike reached out with a simple “Hi,” as if nothing had happened, which only fueled her frustration.

When Samantha confronted Mike about his sudden decision to cut her off, he revealed that the blocking was triggered by a picture she had sent him weeks earlier of a glob of hair that had been pulled from her shower drain. “I was just sharing a funny moment,” she said. “We had joked about gross stuff before, so I didn’t expect him to react like this.”

Mike’s response left Samantha feeling angry and disrespected, especially since he had broken the promise they made about staying connected during tough times. “He could have just talked to me,” she said. “Instead, he chose to ghost me again.”

After the incident, Samantha decided to mirror Mike’s behavior and cut off all communication with him. “I didn’t want to put myself in a position where I could be ghosted again,” she explained. The experience wasn’t easy for her. While she felt upset about the way things had turned out, her decision was driven more by the breach of trust than the picture itself.

Her family noticed her withdrawal from Mike and suggested she reach out to him again. They thought he might regret his actions. Samantha, however, hesitated. “I just can’t trust him,” she said. “He could easily cut me off again without any explanation.”

As she grappled with her feelings, Samantha began reflecting on the complexities of their friendship. “It’s bizarre that he would ghost me over something so trivial,” she remarked. Many people shared similar sentiments online; one person told her, “He overreacted, and you’re right to protect yourself.” Another reader added, “You deserve friends who communicate openly, not someone who blocks you without a word.”

Despite these encouraging responses, Samantha remains unsure about how to proceed. “I just don’t want to get hurt again,” she explained, still contemplating whether to reach out to Mike or maintain her distance. The whole situation has left her feeling unsettled and reflective about the nature of their friendship.
