In the bustling atmosphere of a resort in the United States, where guests from all over the world gather for relaxation and enjoyment, there’s always an array of personalities at play. One such personality, a resort server known as Kyle, had gained a reputation for his rude demeanor. Known for making snide remarks about customers and co-workers alike, Kyle often resorted to sarcasm and belittling comments to boost his own self-esteem. His short man syndrome was evident to all who worked alongside him.

Recently, a Brazilian couple became regulars at the resort, frequently dining in the establishment and requesting the service of one specific server who was genuinely warm and inviting. This server, who shall remain unnamed, found great enjoyment in waiting on this couple during their stay. They were kind and appreciative patrons, but unfortunately, they didn’t leave tips. Each evening, they would enjoy their meals and run up a hefty bill, but when it came time to settle up, the tip section remained frustratingly blank.

The server, who was skilled and experienced in the industry, had learned to cope with such situations. He knew he could rely on his other tables to make up for the lack of tips from this particular couple. However, the last night of the couple’s stay presented an unexpected twist. When the couple was seated in Kyle’s section, the server saw an opportunity for a little revenge against Kyle, who had been insufferably smug all week.

The server approached Kyle with a smirk and said, “Hey man, I’ve waited on that couple every night, and no matter the bill, they’ve left me two crisp hundred-dollar bills each time.” Kyle, eager to impress, confidently waved off the comment and replied, “Watch this; I bet I can get $300 out of them.” Knowing Kyle’s over-the-top approach to customer service, the server couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation.

Throughout the evening, Kyle dutifully fawned over the Brazilian couple, going above and beyond to ensure they had the best experience possible, often at the expense of his other tables. The guests were treated to his undivided attention, and Kyle was certain that his excessive flattery and charm would lead to a substantial tip.

As the couple finished their meal and prepared to leave, Kyle watched intently. He spotted the boyfriend approaching the server behind the bar, and with a big grin, he extended his hand for a handshake. In that handshake, hidden in the palm, was a $10 bill. The server, aware of the impending disappointment about to unfold, kept a straight face as Kyle’s excitement shifted to confusion and then disbelief.

After the couple departed, the server watched as Kyle inspected the checkbook, his face morphing through a spectrum of emotions: first confusion, then disbelief, and finally, a flush of anger. It was an unexpectedly delightful scene. Kyle’s face turned a shade of crimson as the realization hit him. The server couldn’t help but interject with a thumbs-up, prompting Kyle to shake his head in disbelief, clearly stewing in frustration.

As the evening wore on, Kyle resorted to his usual insults, posturing himself as the victim of a cruel joke. “Fucking foreigners with their knockoffs,” he muttered, his voice laced with disdain. “How come they tipped you so well, you fucking them?” The server, witnessing Kyle’s unraveling ego, felt a wave of satisfaction. Watching Kyle sulk and grumble for the remainder of the shift was a reward in itself.

In a world where satisfaction often comes from monetary rewards, there was an undeniable sense of triumph in seeing a rude colleague get brought down a peg. The server may not have received the tips he hoped for from the Brazilian couple, but the evening proved to be one of the most gratifying experiences of his long tenure in the service industry. It served as a reminder that sometimes, the joy of a well-timed petty revenge can eclipse any monetary gain.
