In the mid-2000s, one group of friends found themselves in a familiar routine at a small billiards hall in a neighboring town. Every week, they would gather to play pool, catch up on sports, and engage in friendly banter. Everything was going smoothly until one fateful evening when they encountered a rude player who would disrupt their fun.

After three months of enjoying their games, this group of billiards enthusiasts arrived one evening only to find their usual table occupied. Most were indifferent, choosing to chat and unwind while waiting for their turn. However, as the time ticked by, one friend decided to approach the rude player occupying their table. The response was dismissive, and needless to say, they didn’t get a chance to play.

Their requests fell on deaf ears, and the situation escalated as the rude individual blatantly ignored them when they expressed their interest in claiming the game. After what felt like an eternity, the rude player finally vacated the table, but the group was in for a surprise. When they attempted to play, the green “6” ball was missing. A quick glance toward the bathroom revealed the player had taken it with him.

The disbelief turned to outrage as the friends approached the manager for assistance. However, the manager was hesitant to confront the rude player, citing that it was nearly closing time. To avoid a scene, he provided the group with a replacement ball, allowing them to play. But as fate would have it, the rude player returned moments later, smirking, and tossed the stolen ball onto the table, disturbing their game.

The situation reached a boiling point when the rude player decided to head outside for a cigarette, beer in hand and that same green billiard ball in tow. This blatant disregard for table etiquette was the last straw for the group of friends. As they watched him mess up their game for what felt like the umpteenth time, one friend hatched a plan that would change the course of their evening.

With the ritual of camaraderie and loyalty in mind, they decided to follow the rude player home and coordinate a call campaign to the highway patrol. The group hopped into their cars, relying on their trusty Nextel push-to-talk phones. The plan was simple yet daring: place multiple calls relaying the player’s reckless driving behavior and supply crucial details like his license plate, vehicle make and model, and erratic movements on the road—all within a tight 15-minute window.

As they drove, they shared an eerie excitement about the prospect of their plan working. While one friend tailed the offending player, the others made separate calls to the police, heightening the urgency each time they relayed the details. The adrenaline surged as they saw the police lights flash behind the rude player’s car, confirming that their coordinated efforts had paid off.

While the rude player wasn’t arrested for driving while intoxicated, he was apprehended for driving on a suspended license. The group couldn’t contain their glee when they learned about his fate in the police blotter that week. Their collective efforts not only ensured that the evenings at the billiards hall returned to normal but also provided a sense of satisfaction in knowing they had taken a stand against rudeness.

This humorous yet frustrating encounter serves as a reminder of the bonds shared among friends and the lengths they will go to protect their favorite pastimes. The story of the billiards hall antics and the coordinated call campaign stands as a testament to their camaraderie and the memories they created during that unforgettable time.
