A 28-year-old marketing professional recently faced backlash after wearing a bikini in a hotel hot tub during a work trip. The situation escalated when a senior colleague expressed her disapproval, labeling the choice “inappropriate” due to the presence of younger male co-workers.

The woman, who weighs 195 pounds and identifies as being on the chubbier side, joined colleagues for a casual hangout after a day of onboarding a new client. The gathering was optional, and attendees were encouraged to unwind in the hotel’s pool and hot tub. Feeling comfortable in her bikini, she believed it was a typical chill-out session.
<p“At the hot tub, it was me, two other women, and a few of the guys from our team,” she recounted. “Everyone was just talking, having a drink, nothing weird or inappropriate.” The atmosphere struck her as completely normal, akin to any after-work socializing she had done before.
<pHowever, the next day, one of her senior colleagues, a woman in her early 40s, pulled her aside. The colleague expressed concern, claiming the bikini was “too much” for a work setting. She warned that the presence of younger male colleagues likely led to some unwelcome attention, suggesting that the woman should be more mindful of her attire.
