The caption on this 45 second reel from jasmina.tv is short and wistful: “missing our Berlin divas,” followed by two tagged accounts and two emoji. What the video shows is a close up tour of shoes and boots in a crowded archive style shop, with hands lifting one pair after another off the shelves while white captions name the designer and the season each pair came from.

It opens on a man in a black jacket holding up a long black boot with a dramatic curl, then cuts to close ups of the shelves: rows of neon heels and slides on one side, black leather shoes on the other, a rack of clothes behind. From there the clip is a rapid run through pairs, and nearly every pair gets a label, often next to a runway photo of the look the shoe came from.

The first label, stacked in tall white letters at the lower right, reads “Comme des Garcons Men’s SS2015” over a boot with an orange strap, while a runway photo of a model in a dark jacket with gold X shaped trim stands behind the shelves. Next comes a boot with a long, curled point, and the on screen text says, “The style originated in Matehuala Mexico,” with a small purple circle picture beneath it. That line is the video’s own claim about the shape, with no further explanation. As the curled boot is held up, a second caption with two arrows pointing upward reads “ALWAYS UP!”

Then the labels come quickly. Thick soled black lace ups, shown at about the ten to twenty second mark, are tagged as a Comme des Garcons Homme Plus collaboration for SS2024, beside a runway photo of a model in a black jacket with a white collar. A narrow, sharply pointed black leather shoe is labeled “Balenciaga SS2025,” with a small product picture of a pointed black shoe next to the text. A brown suede boot on a high heel is marked “McQueen FW2024,” and a second caption beside it says “As seen on Charli,” with a photo of a woman with long dark hair. A tall furry boot, shown next to a runway photo of a gold patterned jacket and skirt, carries “Tom Ford FW2014.” A glossy black pointed bootie with a thin heel is called a “YSL Bandage Bootie.” The last pair is a heeled boot labeled “Margiela FW2008,” with a second tag, “As seen on Carine,” next to a runway photo of a gray belted coat.

The labels carry most of the story. Most give the same pieces of information: the house, a season code such as SS2025 or FW2024, and the year; the bootie is the exception, tagged only with its name. The reel closes at about the forty fourth second on a wide shot of the shop aisle, with a man in a red cap and glasses holding a tall black boot overhead and the caption “NAILED IT!”

If you want to read tags the way this reel does, a few habits follow from what it shows. Read each label in order: the house, the season code, then the year, as in “Margiela FW2008.” Note the shape as well as the label, since the reel gives the curled boot and the Balenciaga pointed shoe separate captions. And when a caption says “as seen on” a celebrity, treat it as the poster’s claim and check it against a photo before paying extra for it.
