A worker caring for adults with disabilities faced an unusual confrontation with a neighbor over parking. Instead of addressing the issue directly, the neighbor took matters into his own hands and dumped bags of leaves all over her car.
The incident unfolded late one evening when the worker was wrapping up her shift around 11:30 pm. She had parked across the street from a middle-aged man’s house, as she often did. The man, who lived there alone with his dog, was notorious for giving her dirty looks whenever they crossed paths. He had expressed his disdain for her parking on what he deemed “his street,” even going so far as to complain to her coworkers about it.
After discovering the mess on her car, the worker decided to retaliate in her own way. Instead of letting the act slide, she took the bags of leaves he had left out in his yard and dumped them back into his property. It was a small act of defiance, but it certainly made her feel better.
The next day at work, she found herself amused as she spotted the man raking the same leaves she had returned to his yard. His expression was a mix of confusion and frustration, but she felt a sense of satisfaction knowing he had to deal with the fallout of his earlier actions.
The neighbor’s choice to take out his frustration on her car, rather than addressing the parking situation directly, certainly drew attention. Parking on a public street typically comes with few restrictions, making the man’s actions seem more ridiculous. Yet, his insistence on controlling a public resource raised eyebrows.
