Mom Says Her Father Kept Making AI Videos of Her Son After She Told Him To Stop, and Now She Feels Like He Crossed a Line

Parents have always had disagreements with relatives over sharing photos of children online. But as artificial intelligence tools become easier to use, a new version of that conflict is starting to appear.

One mother recently shared a story that left her feeling both angry and uneasy. She and her husband had set very clear rules about their child’s privacy from the day their son was born.

For years they asked family members not to post pictures or videos of their child on social media. But when she discovered what her father had been doing online with AI tools, she felt like the situation had crossed into something far more uncomfortable.

The Discovery That Sparked the Conflict

In a Reddit post shared here, the mother explained that she and her husband had always been strict about their child’s online presence.

They don’t post photos of themselves on social media and made it clear to relatives that they didn’t want their son’s images being shared either. Early on there were a few incidents where family members posted pictures anyway, but those were eventually taken down after conversations.

For a while, she thought everyone understood the boundaries.

But recently she stumbled across something unexpected: her father’s YouTube channel.

The AI Videos That Looked Too Real

On the channel, she found a series of short AI-generated videos featuring a child character that looked almost identical to her son.

According to her description, the animated character had the same curly hair, skin tone, and even wore an outfit that matched one of her son’s real photos. The character also used the exact same name as her child.

The videos portrayed the character going on different “adventures,” and there were more than ten of them.

What made it even more unsettling to her was that she had stopped sending family photos more than a year earlier. That meant her father had likely used older pictures he had taken himself during visits.

Confronting Her Father About It

When she confronted him about the videos, he initially claimed he had only used simple AI prompts and hadn’t uploaded any photos.

But she said that explanation didn’t make sense. She works in the AI field and believes the level of detail in the videos strongly suggested real images were used to generate the character.

After their argument, he eventually removed the videos.

Even so, the situation left her feeling frustrated because it wasn’t the first time he had ignored their wishes about privacy.

Why It Felt Like a Broken Trust

For her, the biggest issue wasn’t just the videos themselves. It was the repeated pattern of behavior.

In the past, she had already confronted him about sharing family photos without permission. At the time he had denied doing anything wrong, only for her to later discover the images had still been circulated.

Now, seeing AI versions of her child posted online made her feel like that boundary had been crossed yet again.

She said the experience left her questioning whether her father truly understood the risks of sharing a child’s likeness online.

Reddit Largely Supported Her Reaction

Many people who read the story felt the mother’s reaction was completely reasonable.

Several commenters said that respecting parents’ wishes about their children’s privacy should be a basic rule within families. Others pointed out that AI-generated images of real children raise new concerns about consent and digital safety.

A few users also shared similar experiences where relatives used AI tools to generate images of kids without asking.

While opinions differed on how serious the situation was, most people agreed on one thing: when parents set clear boundaries about their children, those limits deserve to be respected.
